Since its founding, the United States has created systems that support white wealth and suppress Black wealth. From slavery and Jim Crow segregation to wealth-stripping practices like redlining or the construction of highways through predominantly Black communities, Black families have been repeatedly and systematically deprived of wealth-building opportunities.
Meanwhile, national policies, such as the Homestead Act or GI Bill, have disproportionately benefited and subsidized white wealth-building. And, because wealth begets wealth, this has resulted in a significant and growing disparity, known as the racial wealth gap
In 2022, the median wealth of Black families was $44,890 compared to $285,000 for white families.

INSPIREquity℠ invites white people, who have benefited from these discriminatory systems, to take restorative action by pledging up to 1% or more of their personal net worth over the next three years to close the racial wealth gap.
By shifting a portion of your wealth to Black-led initiatives to support Black wealth building, you are directly contributing to a more inclusive economy – one that works for all.
